USA Release Order

Applied Acoustic Engineering reports it has supplied 18 of their 529 Release Transponders to Subsea Technologies Inc. in Houston, USA.  Ultimately bound for a contract in the Middle East, Steve Lawrance, STIâs President, commented ãThe 529âs were specifically chosen by our clients, due to their superior quality and high degree of reliability.  The fact that they have been made COMPATT compatible made the decision that much easierä.

One of a range of AAE release transponders, the 529 is also compatible with Sonardyne USBL, ORE Trackpoint II and Simradâs HiPAP and HPR systems, and with options of depth ratings and beam patterns, the unitâs versatility makes it the ideal tool for the industry.

New USBL Tracking from Applied Acoustics

Applied Acoustic Engineering has announced the full scale launch of their new ultra-short baseline (USBL) tracking system, first seen at Oceanology International 2004. The UK based company has designed EASYTRAK as an economical solution for tracking a variety of targets including ROVâs, towfish and divers.

Complimenting its existing range of acoustic positioning equipment, EASYTRAK is compatible with all of Applied Acousticsâ transponders, with the added versatility of being able to track most other makes. 94 standard frequencies are pre-programmed into EASYTRAK, with the facility to set up an additional 4 user defined channels.

A built in pitch roll and heading sensor has been added for automatic position compensation, and there is the facility to connect external sensors, such as a gyro or vertical reference unit, should a higher level of accuracy be required. A further serial port allows the reception of GPS data for on-screen UTM co-ordinates.

Two versions of the system are available. EASYTRAK Portable is an all inclusive system and is supplied with one of the companyâs 219 micro transponders, which at only 230mm in length and weighing 260g in water, is ideal for diver tracking. EASYTRAK Lite connects to a userâs own laptop or desktop PC, with software supplied on CD, eliminating the need for the keyboard and display screen provided, thereby enhancing its cost effectiveness.

Powered by an AC electrical supply or its own internal battery pack, EASYTRAK's high degree of portability makes it the ultimate choice for marine archaeology, salvage tasks and data retrieval. Its ease of use will suit the most inexperienced of operators while its innovative transducer design promotes rapid deployment for a true Îplug and playâ system.
